POEM STARTER
Write a poem about the experience of déjà vu.
Have you written something like this before? That feeling of having done, said, or been somewhere before is a universal experience.
Life On Repeat
I wrote this song about the experience of repeated losses ( miscarriages, death of loved ones, etc. Just having to go through the same experience over and over again, in a weird unending loop). The term deja vu is very generalized, it’s more fleeting. However, there are sister terms that are more specific about the phenomenon like deja vecu which is a stronger more powerful experience. You feel like if given enough time, you might actually be able to say what happens next in that moment. Deja Entendu is like deja vu but specific to sounds or stories. Deja Visite is the experience of a place feeling familiar despite it being one’s first time there. Deja senti means an emotional state already felt. A moment in time that feels familiar because the emotions one feels are deeply familiar.
Deja Vu (deja, deja vu),
Deja Vecu (deja vecu)
Deja Entendu, (deja entendu)
Deja visite (deja visite)
Deja Senti (deja senti)
Deja Vu (deja, deja vu),
Here I am Again (Oh Lord, fuck no)
Prostrating in Despair (despair, despair)
I know I’ve been here before (I know I have),
My Ghost Roams The Halls (she whispers hollow cries)
My Tears Still Flow Down the Drain (I hear the haunting, the sound it makes)
My Angst filled Scent Still Lingers In the Air (choking out my voice, suffocating my lungs)
_ _
Deja Vu (deja, deja vu),
Deja Vecu (deja vecu)
Deja Entendu, (deja entendu)
Deja visite (deja visite)
Deja Senti (deja senti)
Deja Vu (deja, deja vu),
Still Here I am Again ( (Oh God, Fuck No)
kneeling in despair (despair, despair)
Yes I’ve been here before (I know I have)
The blood from my knuckles painted the walls (crimson stark, lifeless, pulseless)
The Boulders That I Carried Became Its Pillars (Strong, Marbled, Fortified by Loss)
I Spent My Days Face Down, My Lips to the Floor (choked up, all spent, asking for help)
Deja Vu (deja, deja vu),
Deja Vecu (deja vecu)
Deja Entendu, (deja entendu)
Deja visite ( Deja visite)
Deja Senti (deja senti)
Deja Vu (deja, deja vu),
Beseeching,
emploring (help me, help me)
face to face
with my ghost (from battles past)
Entreating (save me, save me)
