POEM STARTER
Submitted by C.C Charlie
Write a poem about someone on their way to face their enemy.
An unusual theme for poetry; see how you can portray rivals and conflict in poetic form.
Ready Or Not
My head is pounding.
Sweet adrenaline running.
Sharpening my blades,
Eyes sharp like daggers.
Coldness seeps into my veins,
Anger like a mad lioness takes hold.
The monster within me takes shape.
I stand taller, beaten but stronger.
When life gets you down,
They say stand up quick.
But this crushing weight
pushes down on me.
I lift it high like a gymnist.
Steel bars across my throat.
Arms sore, muscles ripping.
I’ll never be healed.
I’ve been put down my whole life.
Ones around me never show respect.
I’ve been stepped on and trampled.
I’ve been hit by trains and left to die.
Now I’m taking a stand.
Black daggers sharpened.
Teeth out, I’m snarling.
This day is mine.
Suicidal thoughts and self hate.
They don’t stand a chance.
All the haters of the world.
They don’t stand a chance.
Smoke is twirling,
Killed all my demons.
These voices in my head,
They’re all dead and buried.
Leaning in, your skin in my teeth.
Shadows creeping down the halls.
Talons clicking down the walls…
Ready or not,
Here I come.
