Enemies To Lovers
A nudge in the hip drives me from sleep and brings me to open my groggy eyes. Silvia, who sits on the sofa beside me, points her finger to the TV.
Oops. I fell asleep during the movie. Again. What was the last thing I saw⦠the intro?
I lift my eyes to the lit up screen, which now shows two people on a roof topā¦Stabbing? Are they-
Nope. Now they are kissing.
The knives are gone. The lips are ššš.
Dang that is some kissing.
What theāwhere the heck did she just get a sword?
WHY IS SHE TRYING TO STAB HIM AGAIN?
I look over to Silvia, who seems to be completely captivated by the incredibly confusing movie.
āWhatās going on? Why is she trying to kill him? They were just kissing?ā I ask, bewildered. She sighs in annoyance, before grabbing the remote to pause the movie. After she has paused it, she turns to face me so she can explain.
āYou donāt get it⦠Itās enemies to lovers.ā
āWhat does that even mean?ā
āIt means she hated him then she loved himā¦ā
āBut⦠wouldnāt it be lovers to enemies then? She kissed him šš½šš tried to kill him⦠wait⦠no⦠she tried to kill him before the kiss too. So⦠what was the point of the kiss?ā I question.
āPassion? What is the point of šš kissing, Leo?ā
āā¦Us šš¶ššš¾šš to kissā¦?ā
āExactly. They wanted to.ā She says, as if itās obvious.
āBUT THEY WANT TO KILL EACHOTHER.ā I shout in confusion.
āNO THEY DONāT.ā
āWHAT IS GOING ON THEN?ā
āIT IS ENEMIES TO LOVERS.ā She says again.
Iām done. Iām going back to sleep. Romance movies donāt make sense these days. Nor does my wife.
