WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a story with a dual narrative in which one perspective is the protagonist's and the other is of the person stalking them.
A Trip To The Grocery Store
The first thing I need from the grocery store is a pack of baby carrots. I’m trying to be healthier and they work amazingly as a snack I can take to work. And then maybe some milk, I think I’m almost out. Then perhaps a handful of apples will do.
She’s walking the lanes as though she has nowhere to go and no list in her mind. I wonder if she realizes how ditzy she looks right now. Anyway, there is only one way I can figure out where she’s keeping the money and that’s through following her around all day. Originally, I picked up this job because I thought it would be easy but who would have thought that a world renowned burglar would have such strange errands? She has practically taken me all around manhattan today, from the veterinarian (she doesn’t even own a pet), to the Apple Store (she didn’t buy anything, who goes into an electronics store without a plan?), and now an actually normal place to go on a Saturday evening, the grocery store. Perhaps she knows who I am and is trying to lose me. Well, at least then they’ll give this case to someone else.
Man this place is busy! There’s too many people in this city. All these people and yet there’s one person that I’ve sees everywhere I’ve gone today. She never buys anything when we’re there either. First I went to the veterinarian and she didn’t appear to own a pet. I don’t either but I was looking at tanks for a lizard I want to get. Who goes into a veterinarian office just to sit there and do nothing? Then at the Apple Store she didn’t buy anything either! I was looking for a gift for my nieces 15th birthday. I was thinking some AirPods but their kind of expensive. Now we’re at the grocery store and she doesn’t even have a cart, she’s just following me around! Should I call the police?
My phones ringing, it’s my boss, what could he want?
“Hello”
“Just checking in! You’ve still got eyes on the target?”
“Yup, she’s walking to the checkout line at Whole Foods right now.”
“She?”
“Yeah, a women with short blonde hair.”
“That’s the wrong person!”
