POEM STARTER
Write a poem that incorporates clothing somehow.
What you wear, how you wear it, and where you go in it can shape many things. Explore clothing however you please!
Layers
First goes the shirt,
To make sure I am clothed
And to start off the day
Maybe I’ll choose grey
Or blue
To match the skies I always watch
Then goes the leggings
To set a good base
Over goes some jeans
Maybe for security
Then goes a sweatshirt
To hide my body
To get lost in the clothing
And to bring up the heat
Although
I am burning
Then goes the hood
To not be seen
Then goes the necklace
As something to hold on to
A way to let the world fall away
For just a minute
Then comes the bracelets
Red, blue, green,
Beaded, braided, loomed
A million bracelets
One for each song
Just to represent
How one can be so lost
Then comes the bag
Which I fill up with all my books
Books that run
With words
That will blur the world
Although the story
Is not read
Last comes the phone
And to plug in some earbuds
I’d only wish away
The problems in this life
Just one after another
A routine that I lose
Just one day
Of covered up madness
