The mask is slipping off my face

And I don’t know how to make it ok

I wish you knew the pain of the day

But I can’t say

The mask is slipping

The pain is showing

Tears well in my eyes

I refuse medicine

Because it would mean

Admitting how bad it hurts

About to black out

About to sob

About to crumple to the floor

My body betrays me

It aches and it breaks

It hurts

And It just keeps getting worse

I have said too much

You are not supposed to know

I have to keep it hidden

It’s getting worse

But i keep it inside

Behind a mask

Behind a wall

Behind my eyes

Behind a divider i wont let fall

I say I am fine

I say I am dandy

I say it is swell

And all is going well

I say nothing hurts

While I grimace in pain

sob on bathroom floors

Just to avoid the truth

I know I need to say

Just how much it hurts

But every time I try

I get shut down

It’s getting worse

I can feel it

I constantly hurt

And I think my mask is slipping
