Though I never really asked

I knew she hated yelling

Because it always rang in her ears

I knew she liked mint chip ice cream

Because it brought her comfort

When everything got too low

I knew he hated anything loud

Because her mind was never quiet

I knew he hated her body

Because no one told her otherwise

But i knew her from all the times I helped dry her tears

The times I made her laugh

So i always reminded her

That its ok to hate things

But i would tell her of

Her gorgeous eyes

And her brilliant brain

Her cool shoes

And her perfect smile

And sometimes it made it better

sometimes she just sobbed

But I never really asked

She didn’t know much about me

Other than my blue eyes

My soft voice

And the hoodie I always wore

I knew she loved to read

But the vouces wouldnt let her

I knew her parents always faught

And her brother died when she was young

I knew she loved rock music

Because it was loud

But a good kind of loud

And than sometimes she smoked

To get her mind off of things

But I never found out her favorite color

Though I never really asked

I knew that she was failing school

Because she was always cleaning up messes

That her parents had made

I knew her name and where she lived

She told me in case it got too bad

I knew her parents hated who she loved

And who she would vote for

I knew she used to like the stars

Until the smog made them hard to see

I knew she loved ballet when she was little

Until her parents made her quit

I knew she was struggling

And i wish i had helped more

And I never knew her favorite color

Though I never really asked

But it was probably black

Because thats the favorite color of girls like her
