WRITING OBSTACLE

Your protagonist won a highly respected award. Write their acceptance speech.

You can make up whatever award you wish, but you must follow the style of an acceptance speech. You can stick to classic thank you's, or think outside of the box.

The Muttonhead Award

I would like to thank you all for coming here today, there are many other places that you could have sat in for, The Chomps Award, The Shooligananary, and The Height of Stupdity being classic things to watch and be entertained. But you choose to be here for a little “backwater” award, the famed Muttonhead award in which those chosen have one thing in common-our brains seem to be wired the exact same way. We have a blatant disregard for the rules and expectations telling us no.

We have risen from the depths of the trenches to here. And there’s no way we could have gone it alone. I can’t help but stare at the past at all those who have held this award in their hand and without them I couldn’t be here. Especially without the help of my mentor, Hangle, who as you know is the previous winner.

He said to try and not rattle on, and (brief pause for laughter) I’ll try. After all, there’s really only one thing to say and that’s thank you. Thank you to the people who believed in me and helped me get this far, you know who you are I don’t need to name you. But know that I could never do it without you. (Starts to fumble with notes packing up and then pauses.) Well I suppose there is two things to say, never give up on your dreams, if I did I wouldn’t be here.
