WRITING OBSTACLE

Submitted by Frankie Famighetti

Create a conversation that takes place within a human body.

It can be between cells, organs, or anything real or imagined within the body.

Dementedly Divine

If you go over towards my heart,

You'll see it covered in locks and chains.

It wasn't always this way.

Even the most broken things had to have started out whole,

before all of the cracks, and fissures, and fractures showed up.

Something had to have broken it.

Maybe it was a careless push that shoved it off the edge in one go.

Or it could have slowly faded away, taking one step backwards each day.

Or it could've just had the cliff break off from underneath them.

Whatever led it to its demise, it has met it by now.

I tried to use duck tape, but that wasn't strong enough, it fell off after a couple of days.

Now I have super glue holding my heart together, but I can still feel the gaps.

So that's why when my brain inevitably says, " Does it hurt, being this way?"

My heart will always respond, " No,"

" What hurts more is the memories of when I was whole."

" Even the most demented things started out as divine."
