POEM STARTER
"In the heart of the city, under the neon lights, our paths crossed, igniting endless nights."
Compose a poem beginning with this line.
Neon Ghosts
In the heart of the city, under the neon lights, our paths crossed, igniting endless nights
A flicker
A spark
A maybe
A might
Drawn to each other like a moth drawn to a flame
We were something unnamed, too tangled to mend
A story that looped but could never end
Half-healed promises stitched into skin,
You’d dissapear softly…then haunt me again
Seasons shifted; so did we—
You chased freedom, I chased clarity
Still, we danced in dim lit bars, talked like strangers, held old scars
Four years of almosts
Of lips never sure
Of open windows
And revolving doors
You loved me best when walking away,
I held the weight
I knew you’d never stay
But this little town can only hold so many ghosts,
Neon fades where the the silence grows
This time, no last calls.
No last goodbyes.
Just peace in the pause and no more tries
So…here we stand
Apart
Unspoken
A bond undone
But no longer broken
