WRITING OBSTACLE
Submitted by Frankie Famighetti
Create an origin story for a common saying, such as 'break the ice' or 'once in a blue moon'.
Your story should explain how this expression came to be, and why it means what it does.
Break The Ice
There might be a heart,
Beneath the jagged shards,
If you chisel my frigid core.
No one has succeeded,
By dressing up my coldness,
In frilly light, plastic and fake.
I need to feel the pain.
Make me beg for mercy.
Make me feel something.
Impale the ice,
Kill it if you must,
But if it digs,
Deeper and deeper into my heart,
Maybe it can find warmth.
