POEM STARTER
Write a blank verse poem on a topic that's important to you.
Blank verse poetry doesn't rhyme, but has a very strict structure which builds a melody through rhythm. (One way to create this is to structure each line with the same amount of syllables, and the same syllabic stresses, like you might if you were writing the verses of a song.)
All This Time
Ferris wheels and Taco bell
Silly things that bring out love
Me when snack and lovey texts
Late night Dutch Bros singing songs
Bug and bear in everything
Warm cuddles with soft kisses
My feet hurt and honey bear
Cute surprises filled with thought
Matching notes and profiles
From the start to life goes on
Frozen yogurt, movie dates
Salt water taffy downtown
Flour fights, building legos
Walmart runs, side of Subway
Me and I to ours and we
You’re such a big part of me
Building something beautiful
Making this love forever
Time couldn’t keep us apart
Our lives always entertwined
It has only been six months
Yet I can’t live without you
All this time we haven’t seen
The invisible ties in between.
