POEM STARTER
Who are we when no one is watching?
Write a poem that answers this question.
No Eyes On You
Who are we when no one is watching?
When no camera is trained, spying?
We are quiet, crying or just sitting staring
Or we’re loud hoping they won’t leave us alone
Show that they are caring
Some will tell lies to stir up the silence
To stir up drama to escape the hate of their quiet
Some just wait by someone’s side
Waiting for them to breathe, waiting for it to be right
Again
Some people form a plan to run far away
Some people can’t stand the loud of their thoughts, and wishes not to stay
Some are better in their own, and see the mirror
Some can’t help but hide hoping not to have a murderer kill them
Some people don’t remember because it’s someone else
Or some sleep as a way to cry for help
Some solve all their problems, hoping for peace
Others find a way to drown out the memories they keep
So who are we when no one is watching
Anxious, nervous, scared or at peace
So they see it as a burden to be alone or do they simply feel free
Do they run through their regrets with their heart in their throat
Or do they find something to do so they can share something great to gloat
While some hide in shadows waiting for a blow
Or shine because they have no idea what to do other than glow
What do we do, well we do many, these stories don’t get told
We’re here for each other but yet we are always alone
