POEM STARTER
The sky full of stars seemed dead and cold; a place once so magical now hurt to behold.
Write a rhyming poem that ends with this line.
When the stars tasted like poetry
We used to love it here
Used to frolic in the feilds
Tell eachother stories
And laugh off the others ears
And you would say the stars tasted like poetry
We loved it here when we were 18
When we were young dumb and naive
Before your past came to light
Before the world crashed down
Before you hated yourself
We loved it here
Before tragedy and before war
We loved it here
Before your body was bound and chained to the floor
We loved it here
Before you started doubting yourself
Now it hurts to sit here
Knowing you are not around
Its not like you are dead
You just can’t come out
Because my love
No one can know you are alive
You loved it here
You would stare at the stars
Said they tasted like poetry
I didn’t understand
But I loved you anyway
You used to love it here
When we were just a year younger
Before everything shattered
Before your body became broken and scarred
You used to love it here
And i know you still would
But sitting here without you
I am starting to understand
Why the stars taste like poetry
Because the stars hold every aspect of you
Of our love; an eclipse
They taste like the poetry you write
Because you were the first one to say it
But now the stars poetry is tragic
I loved it here
Until you wondered how i could love you
Though I thought the answer simple
Because how could someone not love uou
I used to love it here before the war began
Before the stars seemed scared
When you used to say
That they tasted like poetry
I used to love it here
Before I knew the truth
Before all i wanted to do was protect you
But now What else can i do?
I think if you were out here with me now
You would say the stars tasted sour
Or you would curl in on yourself
But I would remind you of the days when the stars tasted like poetry
