POEM STARTER
Inspired by Silver_Fox
If your hand could reach inside my heart, what would you do with it?
Write a poem with this as the opening line
Hold My Heart
If your hand could reach inside my heart, what would you do with it? Would you hold it gently, and tell me you’d do anything for it? Or would you suffocate it between your palms like a piece of trash?
Would you hold it tight, like a plushie?
Or savor it like your favorite slushie?
Tell me, I’m dying to know.
If you don’t want it, say so.
We don’t have to be anything.
If I gave my heart to you for just one evening, what would you do with it? Would you lay beside it and watch movies all night long? Or would you make fun of it, and abuse it until it cried out in pain?
Would you laugh at the scars it bears?
Would you poke at its lines and tears?
Or would you hold it and give it a song?
So many things could go wrong.
I don’t know what you’d do with my heart. So let me tell you what I’d do with yours;
I’d hold it like a fragile glass.
I wouldn’t worry about its past.
I’d give it plenty of kisses,
I’d tell it, “We can fix this.”
I’d sing to it every night,
and we’d never fight.
I would hold it tight
and treat it right.
