Icarus
In an world where you are the sun
You burn bright for everyone to see
Showing your love and beauty for everyone to see
And I feel selfish for thinking it could have been for me
In a world where you are the sun
Giving light and hope to those below
Showing strength and forgiveness to those below
Casting a shadow over me with your glow
In a world where you are the sun
I am Icarus with arms stretched out towards you
Attention captivated and stolen by you
And so I flew
In a world where you are the sun
I am Icarus who took flight without warning
Who ignored every sign and every warning
Only wanting your light on my wings adorning
But in this world where you are the sun
You grew to harsh with a searing light
Burning down with your hot, bright light
Leaving me without any sense of sight
In this world where you are the sun
Light and happiness is others perception
But I am without perception
Falling into your pits of deception
In this world where you are the sun
I am Icarus who heard but never listened
Who knew the consequences but never listened
Just wanted what you could give because you glistened
In this world where you are the sun
I am Icarus who understood his fate
Grinned up to the sun and laughed as he fell to his fate
Knowing that he was able to reach the sun and it felt great
