POEM STARTER
"Love is the lie that keeps us alive."
Use this as the first or last line of a poem in any style.
Love (a lie)
Love is the lie that keeps us alive.
That keeps our hope burning through the night
Never to be squandered, never blown out
Like a candle, held up w/ hope
Love is the sun on a bright, cloudless day
The kind that makes you wear sunglasses out
The kind where the rain & the clouds stay away
The kind where you can’t help but wonder
How life would be if it just stayed forever this way
Love is the curious mystery of life
That makes me overthink what I never would before
That makes me try to do more than I need to
& makes me lower my expectations more than I should
Love is what I can never find
No matter how many times I look & try
They say love is natural, it should be a comfort
& yet as I stumble through, it’s never enough
