WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a descriptive passage about the sound of water trickling down a stream as you walk through a shaded woodland.
Consider the type of language that could best describe the sounds and ambience of this setting.
Heartless Man
Iām sittinā by our lake with a little regret,
listening to the trickling water.
not knowing what Iām even here for.
I hate the way you controlled my life,
emotions canāt live on
when theyāve been numbed.
And you been playinā me
as if I were someone dumb.
But I survived you,
so Iām not really some
kind of person who would take that BS.
Got the roots under my feet,
but I canāt seem to find my ground.
Hear the birds chirping,
the leaves crunching,
hear your little lies
and fun insults,
creepinā in my mind like
the sunās rays on the neighborās lawn.
And when Iām gone,
I hope my eyes donāt look as hopeless.
āCuz it hurts to know youāre alive
but you donāt care.
Green, green eyes but dead inside,
hidinā a secret and a man that never once cried.
Because a heartless man donāt want to fix
anything broken unless it is
a truck or a sink or maybe a bridge,
and when someone gets attached
he just decides to leave.
āCause a heartless man
doesnāt know how to grieve.
