The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden Of Memory
When the words left your mouth,
I wondered if I just imagined them,
And yet they were there in the air.
“Girl is too big to fit between the tiny girls”
Big
Big
BIG.
All I had wanted was to move in front of you in a crowd.
I had tapped on your shoulder,
Politely said “Excuse me”
And this is the reaction I get
FROM MY FRIEND?
Maybe you could tell that I feeling good in my body today,
And felt the urge to bring my down.
Mission failed,
But I will still document this one like all the other occurrences.
Time after time,
I’m too “big”
Less that a year ago,
I called you a friend,
A good one at that,
But now I must revoke that title,
And exile you from my life.
Goodbye.
Sorry that I was too “big” for you.
Now you will just be a memory.
