POEM STARTER

Submitted by SLW

The Favourite Child

Write a story or poem centered around this theme.

Rotting.

She floats,

Diving into life,

With open arms,

And an open heart

Built like a locket,

She will never shut.

She lives,

Holding onto dreams,

That will happen,

Create into life,

Before all eyes;

She can have it all.

She speaks,

Words that pull the heartstrings,

Of the world around,

A puppeteer,

A ventriloquist,

A tantalizing light,

Roping people in.

She must like,

The eyes on her,

She must know,

That the world lies

In her pampered hands—

I couldn’t fathom it,

If she didn’t.

She must know,

There has to be some eyes,

Amidst the crowd,

Envious and dying to know,

How she got so high up,

While they are in dirt,

Rotting.

(This might barely fit the prompt, but I wrote this on Werdsmith last night and really liked it (which I can’t put exclusive writings on anymore because I have to pay 😡))
