Beneath The Surface

And that’s when It finally revealed itself, she had done it, and no one can see.

I surrender to the rocks. My skin shivers at the feeling of my lose clothing as my body freely descends into the water. The water grows colder and colder until the waves fade into silence and the surface becomes dark. Eyes closed, my arms stretch. The tides consume me, not the least bit afraid. Chase

I looked at him and he looked at me. What kind of luck had I just gotten? He was walking out his apartment the minute I pull up.

He stared at me for a hot second, then bolted. I chased after him, sprinting faster than I ever have. I used all my track star energy and pushed myself harder. My legs were crying out in pain and my feet were already burning, but I knew I couldn’t stop.

I pushed my ha...

Mother’s Desk

My mother’s desk had been in the family for generations. She always said that as a little girl, she asked her mother if she could have it one day and her mother slapped her. I believed it, seeing the anger of my grandmother. The desk sat in our living room, perched right below a large window. The surface was always clean, with only some papers and pens. Anybody writing could look out and see the s...
