Quack Attack

As I awaken and do a quick stretch I reach to unzip the tent. What a beautiful early morning it is and I feel so fortunate that I was able to reserve this amazing shoreline campsite! I breathe in the fresh spring air and poke my head out of the opening. A lone duck quietly glides in from the east, gently touching down to the lake’s surface with a soft splash.
A smile crosses my lips. “All is ...

“Sleep well?” Emil said as he passed a cup of coffee to h...

It's glides into the water. It's misty and cloudy and all I can see in my view is the duck in the water. It's peaceful, but also exhilarating. Anything could be out here, I'm the misty shadows. Floating

I see the swan float past me. I smile at it. Its eyes meet mine and it lets out a horrified shriek. I nod slightly, ignoring the pain in my neck.

The water around me is red. It’s my blood. I saw no one when it happened. They wore black. They grabbed me in the night. They grabbed my throat, suffocating me and brining me to to the brink. Then they let me live.

They cut me, repeatedly. They left ...

Below the Mist

The thick white mist clung tightly to the surface of the small mountain lake, hanging over the cold water like a pillow, suffocating the land, snuffing out all noise in the area. Then, from somewhere beyond the mist, a lone Harlequin Duck female came fluttering by. The small brown bird looked around, seeming lost and exhausted, its wings beating lazily to stay afloat. Then, it spotted the lake. A ...

The Duck

The silence is broken by the sound of rippling water as the smooth surface of the lake is crushed. The duck lowers its head, looking around with small beady eyes.

The sun closes it’s eye as darkness descends into silence.

The duck quacks. The water ripples. The moon steers clear and the sun opens its eye.

The duck is nowhere to be seen.

The clouds thunder, the lake is shattered by a thousand g...

Mist

The duck lightly touches down into the misty waters, it’s feet dampening before it engrosses in the pond.

Only a few feet away from the enchanting scene lay blood. Blood melting into the water along with the duck and staining the pond red. Unknown limps on shore, holding her bleeding side. A confident smirk is plastered on Unknown’s face, not drifting away even as the water turns a deeper red.

Unrestrained By Nature

As David looked back at the pond glistening in the moonlight, shrouded in a layer of fog, he thought to himself, “Another dream?! How could I have been so stupid?”.

The police car slowed to a stop as a mother duck followed by her ducklings waddled slowly towards the enchanting scenery. The driver readjusted the mirror in David’s direction. “Really thought you’d get away with it, didn’t you, Mr. ...
