Solitary

Day 1:

I don’t know where I am. The room I am in doesn’t have any windows and there is a metal door in one of the walls. There is a slot in the middle of the door. That’s where the notebook came from. I was told in broken English to write an entry everyday. So I guess here that is. I don’t know what else to say. I just want to go home.

Day 2:

Well I guess the slot is also the way I receive food ...

It starts with

Gentle waves

Rocking ship

Kind winds

And goes to

Rising currents

Raging seas

Biting breezes

Then ends up

Broken rails

Floating lives

Sunken remains...

It Goes On

Nikki Lewis

Dawn will rise, gracefully, consistently

Night will fall, softly, darkly

Day will endure, strongly, brightly

Pain will exist, sadly, achingly

Joy will flaunt, happily, joyfully

Anger will show, violently, passionately

Life goes on, importantly, mortally

Death takes more, repeatedly, fatally

Dawn still rises, slowly, stubbornly...

Beauty Gone

Nikki Lewis

1 min read

Sight holds beauty

Youth let’s eyes see

And yet, one will lose sight

With every sneeze

A fraction of beauty is gone

The picture of the world slowly fades

Allergies are the worse

Images and colors no longer standout

The world is a blur for one with decreasing sight

Slight may not return

Age diminishes the eyes

But beauty can be found with the other senses...

He’s There

I was sitting on my bed when I heard a creak in my room. It came from my closet. But no one else is in my room. Who could it be?

I got out of my bed and walked over to the closet door. Slowly opening it, I was looking down at the stuff in front of the door. When my eyes reached the closet floor, I saw his shoes. I quickly moved my eyes up.

He was standing inside my closet. He was facing in my d...

A Day

The sun rising on the horizon

Pink and gold shining through the trees

Life starting anew and day bright with light

Golden rays warming the planet

Clouds traveling past, oh so fast

Air warmed with sun and cooled from the slight breeze

Evening passing now with chilled colors

Blues of every shade lighting up

The moonlight peaking through, lighting the way...

Sightless

The beauty was untold of. A creature with everything you could desire. They are something you wish to look upon, until you see them.

Vampires are said to be one of the most beautiful creatures that you will ever see. They have flawless skin that is soft like satin. They have voices like a siren to call draw you. Yet when you approach, you’ll notice something wrong.

They won’t look at you. They...

The Next Day

It’s very different here. When I want to say one thing, I feel like it gets lost in translation. No one here says, “see you later.” Everyone is literal. At least, it seems to me.

Trying to get help is like pulling teeth. I don’t fully understand everything and I just need someone to give me a guiding hand. Like where is the market? Where is the best place to get clothes? What is the best way to ...

Hers And His

Nikki Lewis

He was there

On the battlefield

Locked in combat

She was here

Watching him fight

Defeated he was

A prisoner now

He is trapped

In opposing hands

Wounds to clean

Bandages to wrap

Care to bestow

Taken care of

Healed as well

Beauty she has

Love we feel

Treasured and precious

Devoted we are

To run away

Leaving the war

Bonded in battle...
