What Was I Made For?

Laney

1 min read

I think too much

My brain is filled with too many thoughts

I have too many ambitions

It all so overwhelming

I want to study the stars, galaxies, space

But I also want to help people with medicine

But I could also be a writer

Or a painter

I could make my own start up

Or organize a charity foundation

I have so much to do and so little time to do it

But I have my whole life

My whole life isn’t enough...

I Feel Bad For A Star

Laney

1 min read

I feel bad for a star

Watching from afar

In the dog days

When our world is ablaze

They always used to whisper

To wish upon its glister

To dedicate your dreams

In the beauty of its beams

But when your wishes don’t come true

You feel like faith has failed you

You put your blame upon a star

Hoping to patch the scar

You puncture the star with a sword

Venom borderlining abhor

The star didn’t scorch ...

My Damage

Laney

1 min read

Glancing captivation

Mental fixation

Cursed foundation

Nuclear radiation

I built us off of my bottom dollar

Throwing pennies into the fountain

Now you sell me to the highest bidder

Tossing me off crumbled and ripped

Nothing is discussed

You can’t adjust

I’m losing trust

You self combust

My sun blessed branches

Now snap with a flick

The lake has dried up

And now the dam has no use

Treat me with...

Save You To Save Me

Laney

1 min read

I can’t feel the beat of your heart

And I can feel mine too much

Your pain parallel to mine

Wishing I could link our souls

And take it away from you

Adding to my own reserve

I need to save you

My beautiful diamond in the rough

I need to save you

From feeling like an abandoned locked drawer

I need to save you

Because saving you might save me

I burn from the heat of your anguish

And shiver from th...

The First Race Of The Season

Laney

1 min read

Touch the grass and let the life seep into you

Let the breeze fill your lungs

Garnish your braids with glitter and ribbons

Proudly display your school’s emblem

Smell the fresh white outlines marking the course

The cowbells sing in your ears

Start your watch and look down at every mile marker

Huddle in prayer with your girls

But don’t let the nerves sweep you away just yet

Bask in the last five ...

Better Than The Movies

Laney

1 min read

Let me be your Mary

Offer to throw up a lasso

And pull the moon down for me

Let me be your Allie

Write me letters aflame with your love

Everyday, eventually losing tally

Let me be your Rose

Save me from drowning

In every way I suppose

Let me be your Monica

Put up with all of my idiosyncrasies

And make life sing like a harmonica

Let me be your Ilsa

Support me as my partner in crime

And prevent...

The Second Day

Laney

1 min read

You wake up

Last night’s bad dream still

Foggy in your head

No,

Not a dream

It becomes real

On the second day

Your shock relaxes

And is replaced by pain

There’s nothing you can do

It’s done, over

You couldn’t stop it then,

Why should you be able to now?

It happened so quickly

Slipped through your fingers

You couldn’t believe it,

Couldn’t seem to understand

But you can’t run

On the second day

E...

The Dog Days Of Summer

Laney

1 min read

I rise with the sun

In those late summer months

Flurescing and glimmering

In the sky that is my stage

Destined for greatness

And chasing away the shadows,

I am the brightest star

In our galaxy

But my incandescent glow

Doesn’t even compare

To the burning and gleaming

Of the sun

Overlooked of my very being

And the constellations I form,

I am ridiculed and loathed

For coming off too strong

Dear Mom And Dad

Laney

1 min read

Dear Mom and Dad,

I’m sorry to say that you don’t know me

At least, not to a certain degree

See, I’m an actress in your daily life

Playing a calculated role to cover up my strife

But I’m splintering deep in my bones

Unprotected by your wall of stones

My cursed shadows rage in my mind

Creating storms that leave me completely blind

I continue to destroy myself everyday

My own dignity, I relent...

Little Glass Girl

Laney

1 min read

My delicate pointe shoes

Balance on the tips of glass bottles

My callouses grow deeper

The longer I try to hang on

How can you feel so empty and tired

And be ready to explode with agony at the same time?

I chip at the mine in my head

Trying to find where it all went wrong

“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor”,

Well I just want to jump in the water during the storm

An unsatisfied artist t...
