He is the most infamous serial killer in the last 20 years—everyone has heard the rumors about the orphan maker. However, no one knows his story. Is he a madman who killed indiscriminately? Is he a calculated killer who acts crazy because it’s his only chance at winning a trial? Or is he something else entirely? This is my attempt at a framed story about a fictional serial killer. Everything is made up, and I hope to update every couple or days or once a week if I can. Trying something new!

The Dark Wizard

Shadowdrake27

A tall thin man loomed at the edge of town, black boots crunching the gravel, cloak dancing in the midsummer breeze, hood covering his eyes. The moon casted a shadow over all of his features—making him look ethereal—like a Spector a child sees out of their window in the night. Silently, he glided into town leaving not footprints nor any other trace of his passing at the top of the hill east of tow...

“We should turn back, Kat,” Andy hissed. “This doesn’t look good…”

“What would we go back to?” Kat questioned. “Going forward is our only chance.”

Shifting his weight and adjusting his feet in the cool water, Andy peered at the shadow waiting on the other side of the river. “How do we know that isn’t one of them?”

Taking two steps forward, Kat turned and locked eyes with Andy. “We don’t,” was a...

Framed Story

Write a framed story, or a story that contains a story within it. This type of stiry usually consists of a character in the frame (your story) telling a smaller story the to another character in the frame.

An example would be “The Princess Bride” in which a grandfather reads a book to his grandson. The movie is the book they are reading; however, the frame is simply a story of the grandfather sh...

“You are possibly the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever laid eyes on,” a tall muscular man with striking blue eyes said as he leaned in closer.

Esmeralda rolled her eyes, but forced her thin lips into a smile as she responded, “Thank you, Charles.”

Taking one of her hands, Charles leaned in closer and whispered, “You’re welcome, darling. We should meet again to discuss joining our kingdoms through m...

As the sun beats down from above

There is little left around here to love

For what can survive this intense heat?

Walking across the barren land

Feeing nothing but burning sand

How much longer can I stay on my feet?

The day keeps dragging on and on forever/

Testing the length that anyone can endeavor/

Can nothing make the runs rays obsolete?

Heat so intense there is no cloud cover

Like a contro...

Cyber Killer

Carl cursed to himself and scanned the street. The busy street was unusually empty, as it always was when a match started. Putting a hand in his jacket pocket, he whirled around to see… nothing behind him. Spinning in a circle slowly, he checked his surroundings again. Nothing moved in the darkened alleys, and there was no one else in the empty street.

“2 minutes, 30 seconds remaining,” the robot...

The Greatest Gift

“Dear Santa,” Ryan wrote in his letter to Santa. “I’m only doing this because the headmaster makes all of us. You have never given me anything—not even parents—so there isn’t much reason for me to believe that will change. If you are real, I think I deserve the greatest gift that you have to offer to make up for my life here at the boarding school.”

Mailing the letter was a formality. Every kid a...

When The Music Stops

Rain falls like the beating of a drum

On the roofs of the suburb and slum

Not caring about the day or hour

Or how much you may glower

It sets a steady beat

For nature to play on repeat

So steady it may slip your mind

While noises become intertwined

Like music played in the background

Just to provide some kind of sound

While you focus on daily life

Filled with the usual strife

But what happens wh...

The Day We Met

Hell—that’s where Jason thought he was headed while laying on the lumpy mattes of the cheap motel room that recently became his home. Penniless, tired, emotionally drained, divorced, Jason’s life had been headed down the gutter for the better part of a year. He tossed and turned as he reflected on everything that had happened recently.

“If only I could go back,” Jason muttered into the empty room...
