Rage

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

The flame once lost.

Now awake again.

Inside me.

The rage now found,

From its asleep state,

Inside me.

Blazing heat protruding from my words:my insult.

Like a bomb about to explode,

The screams of pure anger as a result.

The heat of the fiery temper,

Lit by regret,

The guilt spreading like wildfire.

Raging pain needing to escape,

Escape from the broken past,

From what I hoped wouldn't last,

Bu...

What Is Love?

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

Love: the one thing in life we can’t survive without,

We find our love and we just want to shout it out,

Sharing it with the world,

Because they deserve to see our happiness,

As much as we deserve to be happy.

But what is love?

The connection to another?

The touch of a lover?

What is love?

The writing in the stars?

Someone who supports you as you are?

Is love the bloom in spring?

The beautiful ...

If Only You Were Perfect

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

If only the tides could wash away my sins,

If only I could celebrate my wins,

Without feeling the guilt of my previous words.

Words that stab in the dark like a shard of a mirror,

That reflects the real you.

The devil hidden in your visage,

Disguised by your built up image.

If only your apologies repaired the past,

If only forgiveness was meant to last,

Without betraying their trust.

Trust you ...

I Am Grateful.

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

The breath of fresh air that swifts through my lungs thousands of times a day, the energy sprinted to my muscles to allow for movement, the ability to taste, hear, touch, see and smell.

That is what I'm grateful for.

The life you gave me, that, I should be grateful for, and the fact you won't take away that same life.

There's food on the table and a roof over my head that's what I should be grat...

Mirrors Of The Mind

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

My heart pounded and I began to hyperventilate.

I was trapped unable to escape my sealed fate.

Delving into my subconscious mind,

As I ignored every sign they signed.

Beware of the sharp shards that reflect;

The broken mirror was left behind to inspect.

Two sides of a coin presented through one passage.

The distinction between good and evil: perfect and savage.

The doorway opened and they connec...

Dreams

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

I close my eyes for the night,

Expecting the well-known fright.

The shadow that lurks in the corner,

The murderer committing such torture.

I close my eyes,

And unexpectedly see,

Cream coated pies,

Piled up high for me.

I see rainbows and ponies,

The love of my life.

Not my insecurities,

Not being threatened with a knife.

I try to scream,

I try to shout,

Why do I have a happy dream?

Why can't I ...

We Miss The Moon

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

A scorching image burned into our memories,

Our oceans have forgotten how to flow.

Cool midnight air, a neglected breeze.

Nocturnal creatures, their lives we cannot show.

At first, sleep was impossible.

Completely improbable.

But it's been five years,

With the relentless fire.

It's been five years,

Without beauty that we can no longer admire.

We want,

The place where astronauts landed,

A place...

Coffee

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

Caramel drizzled over the top of the creamy coffee,

Like a kiss left so gentle, softly.

Whipped delight atop the heat,

A delicious everyday treat.

The comforting taste tangles my tongue,

Like the flowers of spring daintily, sprung.

Like the warmth of the rising sun,

Like the echo of children having fun.

The cosy welcome of the nutmeg-filled air,

Filled the room, and approached with care.

Just a ...

The Bustling City

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

The stench of rotting street food wafted through the polluted air,and bird faeces splattered on the floor, surrounding each bench.Pigeons scavenged for dusty leftovers obliviously dropped on the filthy ground,by families enjoying their lunch after a stressful morning teetering around the bustling streets of the city.

Screeching voices blared from the disorderly, and grating announcements came from ...

Rediscover

Lucy Clayton

1 min read

He tore me down,

Trampled on my trust.

A permanent feature became a frown.

My life became unjust.

My self esteem declined,

And now I am lost.

My love for you I can not find,

What was the cost?

The cost of loving you,

Was losing myself.

What can I do?

When I’m stuck on the highest shelf.

I need to be my own lover,

Myself,I need to rediscover....
