The dog wandered into the room, like a man returning from a long, arduous journey. He looked dingy, in desperate need of a bath and a good night’s sleep.

Not far behind the dog was a girl with messy hair, wearing a pack and hiking boots. She was tired but would not let it show....

I open my eyes after a peaceful slumber, and everything has a soft, fuzzy blur to it. I see mama’s face smiling down at me. My favorite thing to see when I wake up.

A big streeeeetch. I roll around in my crib, happily reaching for a blanket.

Ready to start another day....

Blowing little leaves

Creatures scurrying

The sunrise peaks

A new day hurrying...

Do you think the sun gets lonely up there?

They journey all day long

She let out a quiet sigh. Her hand grazed the uneven surface of the wooden table where many loud bouts of laughter had begun. She looked out the window at the leaves on the large oak tree gently swaying with the wind. Their large oak tree.

Her fingers ran into engravings on the wood, letters and shapes that the children had carved with pencils back when they were young. Barely old enough to know ...

The cat rolled over on the beach towel, and half-awake grumbled, “Feed me already. It is time for my lunch.” He growled once more and rolled back over, to resume happily, lazily soaking in the rays from the sun.

My housecat begrudgingly enjoying the beach and all it had to offer....

Her mouth widened with a disturbing grin, revealing pointy white fangs. She threw her head back and laughed, shaking the floor of the room, as others sat in silence unsure whether they should continue watching out of admiration or be taking precaution. What kind of creature was this?

She quickly sat back down on the floor and looked inquisitively at the books set out in front of her....
