Through Silence

Summer Breeze

1 min read

Silence.

The sound of nothing,

The quietness of everything.

Silence is blank. Empty. Invisible. Yet feels like a physical object.

Something we can pick up off the floor and examine.

Though silence we can hear nothing, but feel everything....

Your Voice

Summer Breeze

1 min read

She said to me

“I’ll always be here.”

But then she ran away

She acted like she thought

I would be ok

She said to me

“No one will hurt you.”

But she hurt me first

By then I knew the pain

couldn’t be reversed

They say

“It’ll stop hurting in a few days.”

But really it takes

Many sleepless nights

And restless days

And even then

I know your voice will never go away

How hard can one choice be?

Summer Breeze

1 min read

Left or write

I do not know

Which way am I supposed to go?

One simple choice

Can change it all

Will this decision be my downfall?

The uncertainty

It scares me

How hard can one choice be?

City Life

Summer Breeze

1 min read

The buildings are so big

Peoples dream’s even bigger

People shout

Pigeons fly

No stars can shine in this nights sky

I close my eyes

And try to sleep

But the sound of honking awakens me

With buildings so tall

I cant help feeling so small

I guess the city life isn’t for me after all.

A Broken Promise

Summer Breeze

1 min read

“I’m sick of it. I’m sick of the lying and the cheating. I’m tired of you ignoring me.” Said Hillary. Fresh tears fell down her cheeks. Her hands were shaking terribly.

“I know you love her!” Hillary screeched.

“Just tell me you love her. It will make leaving easier.” She said, looking defeated.

“I don’t know what you mean?” Said Mathew defensively on the other side of the room.

“You’ve ...

A Puzzling Night

Summer Breeze

1 min read

(I know this has like nothing to do with the prompt but I wrote this poem)

The night tiptoed in

Darkness watched everyone

Each night was full of creatures

The winter kept her warm

In summer she was cold

The night was special

It was a puzzle

The girl was special

She was a puzzle

Suspicious Voices

Summer Breeze

1 min read

The footsteps down the hallway

The bump in the night

The sound of the Grandfather clock

As it strikes three hours past midnight

Hushed voices downstairs

At the last chime of three

It all makes you wonder

“Who could that be?”

Your suspicion grows greater

As you creep out of bed

But you see no one downstairs

The people had fled...

Jealous Thursday

Summer Breeze

1 min read

Hi I’m Thursday. I’m tired of living in the shadow of Friday and Wednesday. Wednesday is hump day and... well everybody knows why Friday is awesome.

Everybody where’s FriYAY shirts and Gieco makes hump day commercials. What about me?

I mean nothing really special happens on Thursday but I mean come on, I still deserve some attention. Some people may call me jealous, but I still say it isn’t fai...

Love

Summer Breeze

1 min read

Belonging is having a safe place to go

When the rest of the world says no

Having someone to hold you

When you have no where else to turn to

Whether it is family

Or friends

Or God up above

The people you belong with will always show you love.

I Don’t Know When it Will Be Fixed

Summer Breeze

1 min read

(I know it doesn’t really fit the prompt perfectly but I wrote this poem and wanted to share it)

I don’t know when it will be fixed again

My heart

It wasn’t just broken

It was shattered

Thousands of pieces flying everywhere

Lost to the darkness

I don’t know where lots of the pieces went

Like delicate glass

Dropped by the person I trusted most

He left me

Looking for another glass heart to br...
