I dreamt of this life,

When I lived on Earth,

The freedom to fly,

To be closer to him!

I remember hands,

Pressed together in prayer,

At the edge of a bed,

Communing with him!

Oh, the sound of laughter

The feel of joy,

So many feelings,

I missed hugging!

I have always been a bird,

Deep down in my heart,

Longing for freedom,

To be closer to God!...

Invisible in A Crowd

Gillian Joseph

1 min read

Languages spoken, laughter shared

The crowd is large,

But I am not there!

Celebrations are everywhere,

People are dancing,

But I am not there!

People see me or so I think,

They see through me,

It is so lonely!

How can I be person non-grata?

A faceless presence,

In a crowd full of people...

Wonder

Gillian Joseph

1 min read

I spent my life walking around,

I went through the motions,

Of work, sleep and chores.

I spent my life in the same routine,

I spent the weekends preparing for the same,

I felt like a hamster on a never ending wheel.

One day I changed one thing in my life,

I stepped out of my bubble,

Then Iooked up,

“In your arms, I found my home.’...

The Encounter

1 min read

I can’t believe I bumped into my teacher and she told my grandmother all about my behavior. I can’t wait to get her tomorrow; I’m going to start throwing chairs. I’m going to be really loud but it really annoys me that she thinks the worst of me. I can’t stand her. I really can’t she’s truly annoying and she’s ugly. At least I can get David to go along with me. I was calling him to laugh wit...

Monopoly

Gillian Joseph

1 min read

It was a Saturday night. And I’m not kidding when I told you it was a full moon. We’re all playing Monopoly and for some reason my brother got upset because he got a thimble. We were having a grand old time and suddenly a fight broke out. Don’t look at me; I didn’t start it. I was simply trying to get my money for boardwalk. The game lasted for 12 hours. Can you believe it 12 hours! It’s not my fa...

Lest I Fall

Gillian Joseph

I always felt steady,

Light on my feet,

I always felt safe,

A soft place to fall.

I always felt ready,

For whatever comes next,

I always knew you were there,

Lest I fall!...

All Intense And Purposes

I looked and listened like a tortoise,

To Mr. All intense and purpose,

Like a drunken counting game,

I really thought that was his name....

Never in a Rush

‘I was never an early riser.’

I mean what’s the use,

My life is carefree,

So, what’s the point?

‘I was never an early riser.”

My bed is too enticing,

Where am I going anyway?

Really where?

‘I was never an early riser.’

I go and come as I please,

Don’t you wish you had the life,

Of a beautiful feline?...

Your Ignorant Heart

Gillian Joseph

1 min read

Your ignorant heart,

Your small, narrow mind,

May seem normal to you,

But it’s out of order.

Your ignorant heart,

Your generational lies,

May seem normal to you,

But it’s out of order.

Your ignorant heart,

Your dark twisted mind,

May make you feel great,

But it really makes you inhuman....

Confinement

Gillian Joseph

1 min read

I forgot what the outside looked like,

Beyond my little space.

I forgot what walking felt like,

Beyond my small abode.

I forgot how to be with people,

It has been so long.

After such a solitary time,

‘I sometimes forget how easy it was to say hi to a stranger.’...
