Write a short story where humans are the mythical beings.

Not All Humans Are Monsters, Some Are Suffering

TW: Mentions of self harm, suicide, and related topics

"Sit down Illia," my mother says, "I am going to tell you a story."

I sit down and anxiously ask, "About what?"

"Have you ever heard of humans?"

"Yes! In school!" I look down, "My friends say they're not real though."

"No fairy has ever seen one, but that's not the point of this story. Do you want to know more about these creatures?"

I nod.

"Okay." She smiles at me, "Humans are tall, not like giants, more like three or four dwarves standing on top of each other. They are also divided in male and female, but some believe they don't belong in either part. They have brown, yellow, or black hair, some even have red hair. They can be beautiful or ugly.

Some don't care about anyone else but themselves, they are selfish. They lie for money. They steal and cheat--"

I interrupt her, "But that's bad. My teacher says that could make us be in jail."

She shakes her head, "Not there. Some even kill, with the scariest weapon of all... words. They are evil. Some think they are the best and are prideful, but many fairies believe some humans are nice. They defend smaller creatures, protect babies, cure people, and think of others. They admit to their mistakes, and protect others."

"Whoa."

She laughs, "Yeah, but there is one tragic thing we know about them," she looks me in the eyes with sadness, "some hate themselves, damage themselves, with blades on their skin. No living thing should ever do that, you here me? People bully them into thinking they worthless and some lose someone and think it is their fault. Hurting themselves with blades isn't the only way they hurt themselves, some don't eat, some distance themselves from their loved ones. It's truly tragic and no one should ever suffer. A few humans will get out of that hole they call depression and is happy again, but sometimes the human won't recover they will make the ones around them grieve."

"How?"

"They stop breathing."

"But they need to breathe!" I tear up.

She smalls sadly, "They do, sometimes, they will jump off a high building--"

"They don't have wings, though."

"No they don't. Some wrap something around their throat to stop breathing, some cut themselves until they lose too much blood. As tragic as that is, imagine how the person who finds them not breathing will feel."

"Sad and scared?"

She nods, "Yes. The person could be someone they don't know, or a friend, their closest friend, a cousin, an aunt, their grandma, their mama, their papa, their sibling, someone who loves them and didn't know they were suffering." She inhales deeply, "The lesson from this is not every fairy is good, not every fairy is evil, not every fairy is perfect and not every fairy is happy. If you ever feel sad talk about it to a person you trust because they will be there for you. No one wants to see someone they love dead, you hear?"

"Mhm."

"The human world isn't real, but it's good for a lesson. When you grow old, I hope you tell your children they can talk to you or their papa or their friend."

Note: I really hope I don't offend anyone. This wasn't my original plan, but my best friend suffers from depression so I hate to see people going through this. I really appreciate feedback and tips to write better sentimental and touchy scenes. Thank you for reading.
