STORY STARTER
Write a story about yourself developing the idea for your novel.
Try to think about what made you want to write this story in particular, why it's important to you, and how you're going to achieve its best potential.
What lies beneath the surface?
I remember it coming to me as I sat at the lakeside enjoying the sunset. Overhead the sky grew dark, the wind chilling at my back, as near black clouds crowded the sky and converged on everything covered in light. My eyes turned to the lake, the white caps starting to form as the once placid scene turned more and more chaotic.
I wondered what lay beneath the waves. Of all the lakes, what could make this one special outside of the ten thousand (and more) that surround the area? What makes them all tie in together? Why do I feel so connected with this one? Do others feel the same?
I've been writing off and on for nearly 20 years. Supplying my creative talents to my time as a dungeon master and TTRPG player, as well as entering a small contest now and then. I've had these ideas in my head for as long as I can remember, and now I'm finally putting in the work to make this dream a reality.
"Oath of the Wake Weavers" tells the story of a group of teenagers who found a mystical connection to the Ten Thousand lakes of Minnesota (USA). The story explores the aspects of finding balance, the pressure to make decisions, as well as highlighting the importance of wildlife conservation.
This piece of contemporary fiction will be my first story. I find it eating away at me, urging me to get every word on paper. This story and it's characters are emerging from the depths of my soul, only to break the surface and long to connect with those who read it.
