Belonging

The Disconnect
I wrote this song a while back about feeling disconnected when we relocated during covid and I had to make new friends and find community again. It could also be interpreted as an alien or astronaut who is lost in space.
I thought it fit this prompt, so I'm sharing it here.
It has me reeling,
free falling,
waiting to hit rock bottom.
It does not stop.
It does not relent.
The pull of the the abyss is strong.
It has me wondering,
contemplating,
deliberating,
sinking to the depths of the void.
No where to hold.
No anchor to keep me up.
No tether to pull me in.
I want to feel again.
I want to plug back in.
Back to the kinship.
Back to the mothership.
Back to the place where I belong.
It has me lurching,
careening,
waiting to hit rock bottom.
It doesn’t stop.
It doesn't relent.
The pull of the chasm is fierce.
It has me weighing,
considering,
debating,
sinking to the depths of the void.
No where to hold.
No anchor to keep me up.
No tether to pull me in.
I want to feel again.
I want to plug back in.
Back to the kinship.
Back to the mothership.
Back to the place where I belong.
I got lost somehow,
and I don’t know how
to find my way back.
Back to the kinship.
Back to the mothership.
Back to the place where I belong.
Make the reeling stop.
Make the reeling stop.
Make the reeling stop.
Connect me back again.
