POEM STARTER
Write a poem that shows how a single moment in a person’s childhood still affects them to this day.
It does not have to be a something negative...
The Time Keeper's Sister
Stone faced
I carry on
My heart calcified
My shoulders bouldered
My brain burdened
My breathe choking
Each time I think
He is forever gone
But I don't know
How to live without him
For all I know
Is being
The time keeper's sister
I wander through life
Floating in a joyless fog
Until grief catches up with me
One day I am forced into therapy
When a friend simply says,
Talk to me, I’ll listen
Tell me about being
The time keeper's sister.
Therapy works for a bit
But I am told to get over it
After all, it has been so long
I am supposed to move along
Progress through the stages
But I always get stuck
I always get pulled back in
Acceptance is impossible
Because that would mean
I am no longer
The time keeper’s sister
