My Revelation
“My Revelation”
(Rhyme Scheme: ABAB)
I walked a path I thought was mine,
But every step felt strange, not quite right.
The sun would shine, the stars would light up the nights sky —
Yet shadows whispered in the light.
I chased the dreams they said were true,
Their voices loud, my own so small.
I climbed with hope, as climbers do,
And smiled while bracing for the fall.
But silence found me in the haze,
A truth too loud for me to fight —
I had wandered through a maze
Of who they were, not who was me.
The mirror cracked, and in the glass,
A different face began to show.
Not tied to shame, nor chained to past,
But one who’d need to break free from the mold, so I could grow.
A whisper turned into a call—
Not from above, but deep within.
And in that moment, I saw all:
The years I lived, the parts that died.
Revelation didn’t roar—
It wept, it laughed, it begged, it stayed.
It opened up a hidden door,
And let the ghosts I feared… cascade.
I now walk paths I choose to take,
Not ones they paved or said were best.
And every move, and every ache
Feels more like my truth.
Me now living for myself.
