POEM STARTER

If wishes fell like rain, then certainly I am a storm.

Write a poem with this as the opening or closing line.

The Storm in my Head

If wishes fell like rain,

Then I’m certainly a storm.

Fulfilling the wishes of others

trying to be good, no better, the best for them.

The “perfect” daughter,

The therapist friend,

They don’t know,

I won’t let it happen to them.

The feeling that seeps in through the cracks in my smile,

Making me wonder if it’s really worth while,

Is it worth my time listening to you,

Knowing that when this moment is through,

You’ll leave me alone like you always do.

Because you don’t **_LISTEN_**.

You don’t **_UNDERSTAND_**.

You don’t get to pretend that you are my _“best friend” _

You don’t know how scared I am you’ll all leave,

You don’t know how many tears I cry.

You don’t see the piercing stares,

Of everyone judging you,

Because they judge me instead,

I never want anyone to feel the pain I feel daily,

Like thunder in my head, screaming I’m not enough.

So I’ll put my headphones on,

Drown it all out.

Silently screaming that you don’t want to know me, cause all I cause is suffering.

You don’t want to know me,

I’ll just be a massive burden.

You shouldn’t have to know me,

So you don’t.

Stop pretending you do.
