I’ve dreamed of this place before. If a landscape could be a spirit animal, this one would be mine. I’ve dreamed of a place that knows sorrow and mystery, somewhere that understands quite caos. I’ve dreamed of being engulfed in the fog and drowned out by the water as it crashes down upon the rocks. No one will hear me scream. I will be to quite, and to far away. I’ve pictured building a house for myself behind the falls, where no one could find me, where I would live in perfect solitude. Here where the slippery, sharp rocks are so wet that they appear deep blue. Here where the trees are so dark and sinister that you can be sure they hiding secrets unknown to man. I’ve longed to build a a canoe and paddle slowly down the wide, glassy river. I’ve seen this place before, I’ve loved it for a lifetime, cherished it in my heart. I will keep it safe forever. I can only hope to one day find this beautiful, haunting scene somewhere other than in my dreams. The place where nature understands me. The place where the water falls like my tears.
