Here Comes The Bride

_The day you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. _I tell myself, I had waited for this day for my whole life.

The day I married Micheal Hanks, my childhood bestfriend. The man I have always loved.

But this day couldn’t have turned out worse.

Warm blood pools in the lacy crevices of my white wedding gown—and it dries against my pale skin. My heart thumps in my chest, banging against my rib cage—hoping to be set free.

I gulp down the tears forming in my throat. _How could this have happened? _

_ _The lifeless body of my fiancé lays before me, his body collecting flies outside of the church. Minutes away from being married, and it all went wrong.

_This wasn’t how it was supposed to be. _

_ _But still, the feelings I had thought I would feel are absent. No guilt. No remorse. Not even regret, all that I feel is the aching emptiness in my heart.

I am sad the old Micheal is gone, but the dead man before me is not the old Micheal.

He is the two-timing drunk of a man that he had become in the last few months.

I am sad he is gone, but I don’t wish he was alive. It is in his absence I find both sorrow and pleasure.

Because, it is the day I’ve been waiting for.

The day I murder my high school sweetheart.
