a gamble
I rolled the dice
Crossing my fingers
This game of roulette was scary
It was dangerous
I rolled a four and a five
Cursed under my breath
I had rolled an unlucky number
I had rolled a nine
My fellow players stared down at the board
Their card where tight to their chests
And I held in the urge to force
Them to fold
I was determined to win this game
The bounty was too big
I had to play
And so, with a final breath
I let the chips fall where they may
I drummed my fingers against the table
And stared at my cards
In this game of poker
I couldn’t stop gambling
I was enthralled
And so I threw in more chips
Bet more cash
Any amount of money
Was worth a single chance
Adrenaline rushed through my veins
This gamble
This rush
It was driving me insane
Life is a gamble
We chase after a thrill
Whether it’s fame, or money, or love
We through ourselves all in
