POEM STARTER

Submitted by Robin Marlowe

Write a poem about unseasonable weather. e.g. A warm day in the winter, or snow in the summer.

Snow Against Spring

Snow caking the ground

Peeking through are flowers

Oh, what is found

Beneath the white powder

Warm soil and dirt

Melt the snow from within

The downfall of something

That just doesn’t quite fit in

The blooming colors and splashes of sun

Just don’t fit in with this odd plain one

Cold and harsh against the tulips of spring

It curls up and softens, loosing its bling

It’s white fades into nothing

A personality you can see right through

That’s not the snow

It’s just what the world made it into

Melted down into a warm water

Something different than what it started

Molded to shape the colors of spring

Transparent due to the others bullying

It now rests as dew on the tulips leaves

The snow gave itself away to spring, to please

Now it is a fluid you just look by

Not a sight like snow against the blue sky
