"Huh," Sara mumbles as she snaps a picture of the little brick wall in front of our school, Victoria Prep. "What?" I ask, confused. I had been craning my neck, trying to find the cute boy from the year above me, to no avail. Then I see it too. The entire thing is spray-painted. Bright neon pinks, yellows, oranges, and greens making the base in blotches, dots, and lines. Darker blues, purples, and reds shading them. Zigzags and swirls decorate the edges and borders of the colors, even when they seem to flow into each other, fitting perfectly while defying all sense of color theory. I think our art teacher would faint if he saw it. No, not if. When. It's only a matter of time, seeing as the graffiti is beginning to attract a lot of attention from the other students. At a school as conservative and prestigious (aka pompous and boring) as Victoria Prep, something like this is sure to be a scandal, something to hide and cover up. But looking at it from an artistic perspective, it's... amazing.Beautiful really. A clean piece of art, with a person painted in black standing out against the color, next to all the other people painted white. A deeper meaning. A racial one. I suddenly remember my cute boy crush, how he had been mistreated because of his skin tone. I felt my blood boil for him. Could he have done it? Is this the truth, smacked in everyone's faces, that racism is real and shouldn't be shoved aside, when countless are treated this way daily? I decide I should go find him. I had to know. If he really had made this stunning thing, an act of beautiful rebellion, then my heart would beat a little faster for him.

But if you’ve ever experienced racism in school, either towards you or a friend, let me know. It’s important to remember this is still a massive but dumb problem, because what reason do we humans have to hate other humans who ain’t done nothing wrong for LOOKING DIFFERENT?!

If everyone would think like that, by 2030 we won’t have an earth to live on anymore.
