Promises Made With The Dead
“Let’s skip the pleasantries, shall we? You and I both know we’re not here for small talk.”
“Geez, I just wanted to know how you’ve been. Whatever. You’ve always been cold like this. That’s why I hired you. Is it done?”
“It’s done. Of course. I don’t miss. Do you have the payment?”
“I haven’t heard anything about a shooting. No news, no phone calls. How do I know it’s done?”
“Here’s a photo. Satisfied?”
“Damn. Grisly. Alright, here it is. Go ahead and look and make sure it’s what we agreed upon. I don’t want to see you again if I don’t have to.”
“You are all so strange. Anyway - it’s funny. Your guy had a request before I even drew my gun. He wanted you gone, too. Even paid me up front.”
“What? Well, he’s dead and you have the money. Now from both of us. Enjoy.”
“Not so fast. I honor the promises I’ve made with the dead.”
