POEM STARTER

Write an acrostic poem about a season.

Acrostic poems spell out a word related to the content of the poem, using the first letter of each line. Consider other creative elements to make this basic format interesting and poetic.

Welcome Home, Autumn.

Warmth has simmered down,

Everyone is clad in sweaters,

Life in nature will grow dead, the

Charm of fall warms my heart regardless,

October brings spooks that shiver,

Motivating evil spirits to get lost,

Embraced by wafts of apple cinnamon.

Here is where you belong, draped

Over the town, the city, the world

Merriment, you bring my life in

Every inch of my soul.

Attacked by sweet, gentle gusts,

Under steam lies pumpkin spice,

The fallen, ardent-colored leaves, I admire,

Umber-tinted glasses, my world is in,

May I greet you once again as you’re

Now back into my life, where you should stay.
