POEM STARTER

Write a poem comparing a house and a home.

Not Just A Home

A house is a house

But a home is a home

Two similar things

And yet, only one has that shalom

We each have that dream

One big dream

To have a desired place to have

And one to call a place to sleep

It’s something we want for you and me

Just enough space for the creations we make

We sometimes forget one little thing

What does “home” really mean to us?

Is it having beautiful decor all around?

Perhaps it’s something with an enormous TV

With powerful cable and some sound

I wonder if a cat would make a nice pet

Well it would have to have a stunning view, A gorgeous two story home with a good, strong roof

One small pond here, another one there

Ooh, maybe have a big campfire in the center

Just think of all the sun tanning we can do. All we need are some good marshmallows and fondue

Well, how are we going to afford all this?

If we just have a job that pays all the bills….

We will always be happy with the things we can build. And if only we had a pool to swim

Then all our troubles will probably fade away

We would never worry about a dime that grims

We’d have lanterns all over

And candles lighting the way

Well that all seems great

But is it really _the_ place?

A house is a house

But a home is a home

Maybe a home is different to others

Sure, all this nice stuff is great

But is it really what makes a house a home?

I don’t think so….

Yes, we can buy many things

But what can money _not_ buy?

Happiness

Love

Time

Family

Something we humans forget is….

Happiness comes from being with those we love

Love is loving someone who loves you too

Time is not everlasting…so think about it wisely

Family is something that should not be taken lightly

But one little thing I want to keep around

Someone fluffy, someone sweet

Someone who is like a playful sheep

A cat would be nice, a dog too, keep them as a family heirloom.
