POEM STARTER

How could something so small take up so much space in my heart?

Compose a poem inspired by this question.

Worth A Thousand Words

They say a picture

Is worth a thousand words,

Maybe even more…

This pocket-sized portrait,

This photo in my hands,

A representation of the

Greatest days of my life…

The days I was with

You…

It’s just a simple picture,

Us before a sunset,

Fingers intertwined,

Hearts intertwined,

Even our very souls

Were intertwined.

This moment wasn’t

Unique,

Together we saw

Many sunsets,

But this was our first…

The most memorable…

The moment I really fell in love with you…

It may be

Just a picture,

But it says

More than I

Ever could.

“I love you.”

Three words

That I couldn’t bring myself to say…

Three words

That haunt me to this day…

So many feelings

Locked inside this photo,

Ones that never got the chance

To be expressed.

Love…

Affection…

Care…

So many feelings

We could’ve shared.

But neither of us ever

Cared to…

I wish I could

Turn back time

And speak the words

Held in this photo

To you,

To your face.

You were so special,

But I let you go,

Now all I have to show

For years of affection

And romance

Is a pocket-sized portrait…

How could something so small

Take up so much

Room in my heart?

It may be small,

But when I didn’t speak,

This photo said it all…
