POEM STARTER
Out of Reach
Write a poem about something that always seems just out of reach.
The Girls Silent Scream
A paradox of biter resentment
Choking on possibility
Hollow and silent aching in fear
As the girl realized she was born wrong
For she could describe her life in one word inadequate
Tripping through life with the bruises of the past holding her back
The girl bleed in ink and wept onto paper
For that was all she had
So as she followed along to the expectations of life
She felt her bones scream out when she could not
For the girl wasn’t meant for this life
She was never supposed to be a clog
She was supposed to dance through the streets
Bask in the sun
Laugh with her friends
The girl was supposed to be happy
But happiness was always out of her reach
So she sat and wept
Clinging onto her resentment
As she wished for better
A day when the girl could just be
For living as a paradox had left her choking on dreams
And her nightmares felt safer then her days awake
So in the dark of night she stood hollow and silent
Reaching out for a hand that would never come
For happiness was always out of reach
