POEM STARTER
Mysteries of the Night
Whether something natural and beautiful like the stars, or something more sinister, write a poem that focuses on things that are most prominent at night.
Star Fall
She whispered one night
Have you witnessed stars fall?
Have you laid in a dark field
Your weight dragging you down
Down
Down
to meet the earth?
The dewy grass tickling your face?
Or felt the inflated firmness of a paddle board
As you drift on a mindless lake
under a blanket of tiny stars?
A gentle breeze
Your toes freeze
Your eyes scan the skies
Hoping for a streak of light
Breaking into peaceful night…
Oh, I could lay there for hours
I responded “No, I haven’t”
But I long to slip outside,
And follow her hushed directions.
I want to watch the sky in wonder
Wait with the world
For the stars to fall
