Her eyes met his across the room.

The light flicked over her on it's way to focus on another guest, making the blue sparkle like a rare sunrise.

This was the last moment he belonged to himself.

Every step she took closer was one he could use to run. Escape the lies. The shadows. The deceit.

The betrayal.

But he didn't. He was mesmerized by her beauty.

Long shiny brown hair that nearly kissed the floor, blue eyes that sparkle like starlight, a smile that could melt the hardest heart.

"May I have this dance?" she asked, voice like honey weaving it's way around him in invisible strings before burying itself in his head like a parasite.

The moment he took he took her outstretched hand, his fate was sealed.
