POEM STARTER

The sky full of stars seemed dead and cold; a place once so magical now hurt to behold.

Write a rhyming poem that ends with this line.

Lovestruck

I remember when we first met

You were striking a ball over the tennis net

You glanced towards me

I smiled back at you, with such glee

After you’d finished playing

I noticed the net fraying

I walked close by

Pretending I hadn’t noticed, I

looked up at the sky

Eventually we met for real

We were in McDonalds

choosing a meal deal

We got together, engaged, married

And your babies I carried

You died before me

Gardening, by the tree

Devastated, I still am!

You were such a lovely man

I go back to the place we met in the park

Cold and alone, facing the dark

The sky full of stars seems dead and cold

A place so magical now hurt to behold
