POEM STARTER
Submitted by Robin Marlowe
'It is easy to get lost in the underworld.'
Write a poem that incorporates this line.
Romance vs Independence
It’s easy to get lost
Lost in the underworld
Because when you reach the abode of Hades
There is nothing but fear
Every single path
Is rocky and dark
And you never know where to turn
Where you should take a step back
The underworld of my thoughts
Is really quite similar
Hades would have a gall of a time
Appreciating the dark thoughts that fester
The maze of my thoughts
Is a narrow twisting path
I’m always confused
Never know which thoughts will last
I yearn of a love, that will free me
Unbind me from this chains,
And finally let my heart guide me
But then I pause
And then I wonder
Am I looking to love as an answer?
A kind of superglue
To fix my broken parts
Because I can seem to put them back together
With my own heart?
Is love the answer?
Romance says it is,
But Independence warns me from it.
She keeps on telling me,
I got to solve this
By myself
And not by love,
Because if I can’t love myself
What does my love become?
