POEM STARTER

'The key they'd given me still fit the lock, but the house no longer felt like home'

Write a poem which closes with this line.

Hollow Walls

The walls in this house are hollow

I can still feel the pain

The walls closing in on me

On that fateful day

This house was no longer a home

But merely a box with walls

The walls in this house are hollow

You left me to suffer

Struggle

Fight for my self

But I thrived

You wanted me back

Said you didn’t mean it

That it wasn’t you

That you wouldn’t do that to me

That I am remembering wrong

But I know

The walls in this house are hollow

I can hear every little step

The creaks

The lies

The deception

The pain…

I kept the house key…

The key you had given me

It still fits…

But this house no longer felt like home
